Lake Corpus Christi

On Monday, we awoke to a cool overcast morning in Kerrville. After packing up for our move south to the Corpus Christi area,we made a brief stop to have the safety inspection done on the motorhome-a Texas requirement. Then we headed south through San Antonio. There was tons of traffic and some tricky interchanges but with Jim driving and Karen navigating , we made it through!
Next stop is our new temporary home-Lake Corpus Christi State Park. The lake is about 35 miles north of Corpus Christi in a "wilderness" area. Our cool overcast morning gave way to a sunny 75 degree afternoon-- what a difference being farther south makes! The trees here are already showing their spring leaves.
After getting set up were sitting back to relax when we saw a group of javelina "stroll" through our campsite. We have also seen (and heard) lots of birds. The woodpecker in the photo was particularly noisy.
Today we made a drive into Corpus Christi to start exploring the area. More on that trip later !
