On the Road
Well, after a false start on Easter Sunday when we got stuck in the mud, we finally got on the road on April 18 th. We had some mechanical difficulties as we came into San Antonio. These were remedied by an all day visit to our friends at Cummins Southern Plains. The problems are all fixed but the trade off there was that Karen did not get to visit her favorite Mexican restaurant there-oh well. It is still there for another day.
We then ventured through the Hill Country where the spring wildflowers were in full bloom. It was really pretty. In addition, the ranches and farm had all their babies (calves, kids and foals) and that was neat to see.

The rest of the trip went pretty well. North of Amarillo we stopped in Stratford, Texas. This tiny town sits at the junction of Hwy 287 (our road) and Hwy 59 (the route of our friends Cliff & Karen). Since we had not seen them in a year, a little of advanced planning enabled us to meet for breakfast. We had a nice visit and a wonderful inexpensive breakfast. A great place to stop.
At a stop in Lamarr, Colorado we had a tornado warning but only saw dark skies with gusty winds and rain. It seems we managed to skirt the bad weather the whole way to our destination in Aurora, Colorado. That was the plan!!!
